Church action on Poverty Sunday
26th February, the Sunday next before Lent, has been designated Church Action on Poverty Sunday, when churches are encouraged to pray and act for change.  As part of our action, it would be good to be able to send an extra generous contribution to the Homeless Project.   Non perishable food stuffs, tea, coffee, non-biological washing powder, toiletries, socks would be particularly welcome.  If you prefer to give a cash donation to Janet Thomas or Shirley Simpson, they will shop on your behalf and give you a receipt, so that you can see what you have provided.

NEXT SUNDAY (ADVENT SUNDAY)
The Parish Mass at 10am will be in the Hall. The Advent procession at 4pm will be in Church. Please wear appropriate clothing!
FLOWERS IN CHURCH
The flowers have been kindly donated by Christine Hopper in memory of her mother Doreen.

WALKING GROUP
This month's walk, on Saturday November 26th, will be roughly 6.5 miles long, taking in the three villages of Scotton, Brearton and Farnham. There will be some stiles to negotiate, but otherwise the route should be fairly flat along pathways and across fields. Weather permitting, we will stop to look round St Oswald's church in Farnham, so please bring a drink and a snack. Please meet as usual in St Wilfrid's car park at 10.00am. Newcomers always welcome. Enquiries to Simon Gartside.

GARDENING HELP REQUIRED
The churchwardens would like some help to tidy up the area between the hall kitchen and the Lady Chapel which has become quite overgrown with weeds and a small tree!  If you are available and willing to help on Saturday 26th November, 12:30 - 16:00, please speak to Mike or Andrew.

CHARITY NEWS
We have received a letter from the Harrogate Homeless Project expressing their thanks for our weekly box of food and toiletries.  It is only through donations of this sort that they are able to help the homeless, and they wanted us to know how much they appreciate our giving.  Usually, as Christmas approaches, we try to include some more festive items than usual, so please do plan ahead for this.  We also collect confectionery items before Christmas to send to the Harrogate Food Bank, so that deprived families may have sweets and chocolate.  There will be a box for this purpose at the Duchy door on the first two Sundays in December.  As usual, anyone who finds to difficult to shop is welcome to give a cash donation instead to Janet Thomas or Shirley Simpson, who will shop on your behalf.
DONATIONS FOR FLOWERS AT CHRISTMAS
At the doors of the Church there are baskets for the collection toward the cost of the flowers that will adorn our Church this Christmas. If you would like to contribute toward the flowers, please place your donation in these baskets.
We would be most grateful for greenery to decorate the church. If you are able to provide any please leave it in the cloister by Thursday 22nd December.
The Flower Guild will shortly be arranging a date and time to decorate the church at Christmas and would welcome help from anyone who would like to join in. Please contact Linda in the Parish Office if this is something you would be able to help with.
